Well its currently 5:30pm here in Cairns. We are sitting in some pizzaeria in the lobby of our hostel that says we need to be patrons to use the internet – but the guy said it would be okay for a few minutes. We managed to get a couple of posts online that we wrote whilst on route here, so we hope you enjoy those! We are staying here in Cairns for a few days at a hostel called “Gilligans” it seems pretty fancy for a hostel haha, we are in a 6 bunk room, currently there are 3 (chris says German) people in with us for tonight. The weather has been SO nice! when we stepped off the plane we were hit with the hot humid air that Cairns has to offer. We then, like the amazingly smart people we are, decided to wander around aimlessly for a few hours.
We aren’t taking any breaks so far.. we are signed up for a 2 day scuba trip out on the reef tomorrow, leaving at 7:45am. We will try to get lots of pictures of that for everyone to see. It looks amazing - and for the price it better be. We don’t know how often we will be able to update our blogs because of the shady and expensive internet out here (also, pre-paid phones are like $.80 per minute…. O_O), but we will try to update it and respond to comments as they arrive.
We hope everyone is well in BC!

Hi Matt and Chris,

Hi Dollings, glad you made it safe and sound. Did you ever order your vegetarian meal Matt? Anyway, sounds like you’re not wasting any time getting involved in activities but remember (mostly Matt), while I was gone, nobody watered the money tree and it’s completely dried out so spend your money carefully!
Have lots of fun and look forward to hearing more about your adventure when you’re able to sign on.
Hugs to you both,
Love, Mom
xoxoxo

Hey Angela and Mom,
Thanks for the comments! glad that people are starting to read this thing as we manage to get some stuff on it finally. It has been hard to get online, so thanks for beingr patient. We just got back from our dive trip today – and we are both exhausted. We had a GREAT time but we will tell you all about that tomorrow hopefully, pictures and all. We are planning on hitting the town tomorrow with some people we met on the boat – it should be good times. Until we can get a post up officially we thought it would be nice to at least reply to the comments! so – thanks again and stay tuned!
*mom* i know the tree isnt growing!
*mad* emailing is a nightmare, will get to it when i can! know that i am here and well though, and please keep commenting
bye for now.
*burps*
Thinking of you.
Glad to hear you made it safely and are having a good time. Gilligans looks pretty nice for a hostel. You guys don’t seem to be roughing it too much. Are there lots of hostels like that? Can’t wait to see more pics. Was the diving awesome???
Have fun!
love mom and dad
Hey Chrisl
Don’t you guys go swimming with any sting rays…and be sure and stay away from those greenish looking ponds in Northern Australia-even if it gets too hot.
(The ‘green’ will have been caused by them ol’ northern ‘alligators’, one almost got a friend of mine…)
Corey visited Australia. She and Tys climbed some ‘world’s highest bridge’ and ‘piloted’ one of the past champion yachts there-she will be very glad to hear about your adventures.
Meanwhile, Aunt Karen says that you should “have fun and take care!” (Which translates easily to; “ave a go’” at “down under!” Good luck to both of you!)
See you when you ‘get back’ from the ‘outback’…
Uncle Den and Aunt Karen
Glad you are well, having fun, and meeting people. Look forward to reading more and maybe seeing some video. Take care, AA
Hey guys just wanted to leave a post. Kinda lonely with not many cka guys on. Sunday nights are lonely
. Well good to hear that u guys are having a blast.
Ps u guys should go kangaroo clubbing
Hi mom, dad, and uncle dennis and auntie karen.. Diving was awsome! it was so tiring though! We did 7 dives in 30 hours… We are here for our last day in Cairns now, we will be heading down the coast in our wicked van we are going to rent. We are really excited about it. Nice to here from you guys! I hope Canada is going well.
Chris
PS: Tim, what is kangaroo clubbing O_O
Hey Chris-I was just reading a comment that was written by Angela and then I switched to watch the video of you guys which showed you guys ‘posing’ in the sun. Then I noticed above your video (in the background of my screen) one of Angela’s comments about ‘beef jerky”and, well, ya know what I thought…..(KIDDING!)
Seriously tho’, I’m glad those sharks ‘didn’t take the bait’…
And, if you ever want to see ‘wild turtles’…come with us someday to Burnaby Lake…(If you ever decide to leave Australia, that is, which is seeming less likely from the sound of things…lol)
A “FOREST”-in Australia? Nowhere, no-time, no way would I ever think of that…you sure you didn’t take the wrong boat…to B.C.?
How deep were you guys in the Reef? (for the most part?) That video looks like what I saw on our submarine tour off the coast of Hawaii….(which was about 100 ft. deep at most.) Neat stuff!
Everything is okay here….although the other day 3-year old Luke managed to save his one year old sister, who had fallen head first into the upstairs toilet! (doin’ some ‘deep-sea diving’ of her own, I guess…) He ran to the top of the stairs and yelled down to his mommy (his exact words;) “Mommy, Mommy, SOMEBODY IS IN TROUBLE!” Brooke was alright though-just a little shaken…(or maybe ’stirred’, but not ’shaken’?)
Corey and her family have just moved into their new home-still in Kits-we had them here for a couple of days until their water/electricity was hooked up.
Thunder and lightnin’ here today-REALLY ‘BIG’ show! (but, I guess you guys miss all that…heh..)
But, I’m not gonna keep ya here…looks like there’s a lot more exciting things to do in Australia than reading my ’stuff’…
You must have a LOT to see, so don’t dawdle…(or ‘dangle’ either. However, being able to drive on BOTH sides of the road will likely be a handy advantage for you when you get back to ‘mix it once more’ with all the crazy ‘road ragers’ and ‘bumper-banging blokes’ that we have here in B.C.!)
Take care and don’t do anything I wouldn’t do. (I’ll send a list later,)
Uncle Den
